Nature provides the ultimate classroom. From mud pies to outdoor painting to planting seeds; we explore the our large, fenced outdoor play space on a daily basis. And our covered deck is the perfect spot for outdoor meals and projects.

Invitations to learn are carefully crafted based on the season, developmental age of each child and their interests. Their questions and wonder are the basis of the curriculum. Muscles for holding a pencil are built by squishing and rolling play dough. Brain connections are made by playing gross motor games. And a lovingly curated collection of books are enjoyed and rotated each week.

From the Beginning
Born seventeen years ago, along with owner Jennifer Eyestone's twin daughters, Gardenia Kids has been a home away from home for a community of children in southeast Portland. A full day, high quality preschool in their home that offered Jennifer a chance to channel her passion and experience as a preschool teacher and raise her own children in a loving and safe environment. Gratitude for this opportunity and the life it creates drives every decision made at Gardenia Kids; from the healthy, home cooked food, to the Earth friendly cleaning supplies and wood toys. In addition to running the school, Jennifer was been a Girl Scout Leader for ten years and mom to four active girls, now all grown up.
